Troubleshooting

PROBLEM

CAUSE

SOLUTION

Pump output low on both strokes

Restricted air or hydraulic lines

Clear any obstructions; be sure all
valves are open; increase pressure.

Empty fluid supply

Refill and reprime pump. In an air-pow-
ered system, use pump runaway valve.

Clogged fluid outlet line, valves, etc.

Clear.

Worn packings

Tighten packing nut; replace all pack-
ings.

Pump output low on only one stroke Held open or worn check valve

Check and repair.

Worn piston packings

Replace.

No output

Improperly installed ball check valves Check and correct; see page 22, start-

ing at step 24.

Pump operates erratically

Exhausted fluid supply
