Important information!
Attention:
Skiing is an inherently risky recreational activity that
can lead to physical injuries. These bindings are part of the
functional unit of skis/bindings/ski boots and they do not release in
every circumstance. It is impossible to predict every situation in
which the ski bindings release or do not release and whether a
skier has escaped injury while skiing. Although these ski bindings
reduce the risk of injury to the leg below the knee joint, this type of
injury cannot be ruled out entirely; they do not reduce the impact of
other physical injuries, especially knee injuries.
A qualified technician must install, adjust and maintain the
ski bindings according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Improper installation, adjustment or maintenance can
increase the risk of injury. For your own safety, you should
always have a technician check your system (skis, boots,
bindings) at least once before the start of the season.
The following instructions are for the release function of your
ski bindings and are therefore important for avoiding the
potential risk of injury:
1. Getting in and out of binding (
also after falling
):
Insert your ski boot into the rear clip and then snap it in with the toe
clip (S). Put on and tighten the safety strap (T). (Fig. 1)
Clean any sticky snow from the binding and boot bottom as
necessary.
1.1. Release and reentry:
After the binding releases (e.g., after a fall), the sole plate (O)
remains on the ski boot.
Remove the sole plate (O) from the ski boot, clean the boot and
binding parts of any snow and firmly insert the sole plate (O) into
the base plate (G), insert the boot and snap it in with the toe clip
(S).
Attention:
Under no circumstance should you walk around with the sole plate
(O) on the boot sole! This will result in great wear on the release
parts and can highly damage the release function.
2. Checking
A technician must check the proper adjustment of the release settings
with an electronic binding adjustment device. Please note that the
release level of the binding increases over the service life! Before each
ski, the safety strap (T) must be put on and tightened; you must also
check to see whether the binding sole plate (O) is affixed to the base plate
(G).
Caution:
Ski boots made from soft thermoplastic material can sharply
reduce the binding function. GC-701S ski bindings may only be used with
ski boots corresponding to standardized norms (DIN/ISO 5355).
The function of your ski binding could be affected if you use ski boots that
are worn or have not been properly adjusted to the ski binding. Please
only have a technician make the necessary adjustments and do not
make any changes to the settings yourself!
3. Maintenance:
You should have regular maintenance done by a technician for every 15-
20 days of use.
If readjustment is necessary, bring your equipment (including both ski
boots) to a technician (e.g., ski dealer, ski service shop, etc.).
4. Other information:
When transporting your skis on the roof of a motor vehicle, the bindings
are exposed to road salt and other harmful influences. You should use a
binding cover or ski bag to protect your bindings.
After skiing, your skis must be stored in a temperature controlled room so
that ice does not build up on the binding afterwards (remove from ski
bag!).
Ski boots should never remain in the binding when they are being stored.
Your ski binding corresponds to the specifications following the DIN/ISO
norm 9462.
5. Warranty:
Through its national distributors, GASPO guarantees to the original
buyer or user that the ski binding is free of defect related to the material
and processing. This warranty, along with any claims stemming from it,
lasts for a period of two years from first purchase. Other periods and
conditions may apply in the USA and Canada.
To obtain warranty service, the product must be brought to the original or
another authorized GASPO dealer at your own cost. These instructions
for use, proof of purchase and proof of periodic service must be returned
in order to make a warranty claim.
6. Exclusion of liability:
As long as GASPO is not obligated to compensation by mandatory
law, GASPO does not accept any liability for damage or
consequential damage from using the ski binding, regardless of
whether such a claim is based on the sales agreement, on an official
warranty claim or on negligence, or whether such a claim concerns
material damage – with the exception of the ski binding itself –
concerning malfunction in relation to using the ski binding or
concerning loss of property or other lost earnings.
Please safely store these installation and operating instructions for
later inspection and for warranty purposes.
