3. Connect the DB9 end of the console cable to a PC’s COM port.
4. Connect a standard Ethernet cable (Cat5 or better) to the 10/100/1000 Mgmt port.
5. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to an Ethernet network.
Configuring Basic Settings
This section describes how to perform the initial configuration of basic settings over a
serial terminal connection to the console port.
The system administrator must initially log in with a default admin account using a
default password, and then must immediately change the password through the jump-
start script. Refer to
Access the Command-Line Interface over the console Port
.
Once you have used the console port to configure the Mgmt port’s network properties,
you can configure the GigaVUE TA Series TA
Series node remotely using the Mgmt port’s
network connection.

: The same commands are available in the command-line interface
regardless of how you connect.
Access the Command-Line Interface over the console Port
1. Make the basic power and console cable connections described in
and power on the GigaVUE TA Series node.
2. Start a terminal application on the PC. Common terminal applications include
TeraTerm, PuTTY, and Hyperterminal.
