5-3-2 Configuring S/PDIF Out
The S/PDIF Out jack can transmit audio signals to an external decoder for decoding to get the best audio
quality.
1. Connecting a S/PDIF Out Cable:
Connect a S/PDIF optical cable to an external decoder for transmitting the S/PDIF digital audio signals.

Select
SPDIF Out
if you use the S/PDIF Out connector on the back
panel for digital audio output or
HDMI Out
screen if you use the
internal S/PDIF Out connector (SPDIF_O) on the motherboard.
2. Configuring S/PDIF Out:
Step 1:
While in the operating system, right-click on the
icon in the notification area and select
Playback de

vices
.
Step 2:
On the
Playback
tab,
right-click on
SPDIF Out

select
Set as Default Device
, and then open the
Prop
-
erties
dialog box.
Step 3:
You can go to the
Supported Formats
tab to select the
formats to be decoded or the
Advanced
tab to select
the sample rate and bit depth.
