Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Replacing Quick-Lock Head
Quick Lock Head Disassembly
1. See Figure 4-1 . Align the hole in the anti wrap can-
ister (A) with the hole in the internal housing.

2. Insert a Phillips-head screwdriver through the hole
in the anti wrap canister and into the hole in the
internal housing.
3. Rotate the Mow-Ball® assembly until the screw
driver slides into a hole in the shaft.
4. Turn the Mow-Ball® clockwise and unscrew the
Mow-Ball from the bearing house.
NOTE: If the Mow-Ball® continues to turn, but does not
come off, verify the screwdriver is locked into the shaft.
NOTE: If the Mow-Ball will not turn by hand, loosen the
bolt in the bottom of the Mow-Ball® with a 9/16" socket.
5. Slide the line plates off the shaft.
Quick-Lock Head Assembly
NOTE: Improper installation can damage trimmer bear-
ings.
1. See Figure 4-2 . Install molded spacers (A), quick
lock (B) and adapter (C) onto the shaft
.

2. Place Mow-Ball® bolt (D) into the hex cavity of
Mow-Ball (E).
3. See Figure 4-3 . Align the hole in the anti wrap can-
ister with a hole in the internal housing and insert a
Phillip head screwdriver through both holes (F).

4. While holding the Mow-Ball bolt head in place turn
the Mow-Ball counterclockwise to start the bolt
onto the shaft.
5. Continue turning the Mow-Ball until tight.
Head Height Adjustment
The following steps adjust cord head height in 1-1/2 in
(3.81 cm) increments.
1. See Figure 4-4 . Remove Mow-Ball (A) quick lock
(B) and adapter, and spacers (C) off the shaft. Do
not remove anti-wrap canister (D).See

2. For a middle cutting height setting, install one
spacer (B), the quick lock with adapter (C), fol-
lowed by the second spacer (B) onto shaft.
