Fresh Air Vent
allows the air conditioner to:

Recirculate inside air - Vent Closed (See Fig. A)
2.
Draw fresh air into the room- Vent Open (see Fig. B)
3.
Exhaust air from the room - Exhaust Open (see Fig. C)
