If a flange-type valve is to be used to return the oil and the flange is drilled and tapped
to a ¼ in. female NPT fitting, then the drilled hole should be offset to the top of the
internal valve diameter to prevent an air pocket from being trapped behind the flange
(see Figure 8-9).
