Glossary
A : Ampere
ac : Alternating Current
ACK : ACKnowledge
A/D : Analog-to-Digital converter. An electronic device, often an integrated circuit, that
converts the value of a continuous electrical quantity, such as voltage or current, into its
digital equivalent; all possible values of the quantity are then represented by a finite set of
discrete values. All digital instruments use an A/D converter to convert the input signal into
digital information.
Adaptor (brass) : Device used to mount a Hydran 201T i (specifically its Hydran 201
sensor) onto a valve of the electrical equipment to monitor (typically a transformer)
Alarm : Operating condition occurring when a data point value exceeds the parameter’s
alarm set-point
Alarm Contact : Terminal used as interface between the alarm relays of the
Hydran 201 i System and any SCADA system (alarm panel, etc.)
Analog Output : Analog signal that is proportional to the gas level reading performed by
the Hydran 201T i
Analog Signal : Electronic signal that can represent an infinite range of numbers (as
opposed to digital signal)
Analysis : Algorithm applied to data points for the purpose of calculating features that are
then applied to rules
ANSI : American National Standards Institute, a standards-setting, non-governmental
organization that develops and publishes standards for voluntary use in the United States
