Connecting Probes
The Vivid q N
ultrasound unit operates with various types of probes that are used for scanning patients,
including flat phased, convex and linear electronic array probes. Once connected, the probes can be
selected for different applications.
Probe connectors on the Vivid q N unit are as follows:
•
Two active probe connectors (one for a pencil probe) on the
right
side of the unit
Probes can be connected or changed any time, as described below, regardless of whether the system
is powered ON or OFF.
1) Place the probe’s carrying case on a stable surface and open the case.
2) Inspect the probe socket to verify that it is free of debris.
3) Carefully remove the probe and unwrap the probe cord.
DO NOT allow the probe head to hang freely. Impact to the probe head could result in
irreparable damage.
4) Press the probe connector locking lever
downwards
(refer to
).
CAUTION
Handle the probe gently while connecting and disconnecting
.
Do NOT touch the patient and any of the connectors on the ultrasound unit simultaneously,
