The general requirements in this section apply to the GTX 335 transponder installation.
For more mechanical drawings and validation of structure information, refer to appendix A.
4.1 Structural Installation
NOTE
Existing transponder installations may not meet the requirements in this section. Make
sure the installation location for the GTX meets the requirements before the aircraft is
modified.
4.1.1 Location and Mounting
The following conditions must be met for installation of the transponder.
y
Maintain a minimum of three inches between the edge of the mounting rack nearest the connector
and any nearby objects to provide clearance for the connectors, wire harness and antenna cables.
y
Use hardware listed in appendix D, unless indicated differently.
y
Electrical bond requirements can limit possible installation locations:

For metal aircraft, the unit must be electrically bonded to the aircraft metallic structure.
Refer to section 3.15 and table 3-13.
◦
For nonmetallic aircraft, the unit must be electrically bonded to the aircraft ground plane.
