2.2.4 GMC 605H AFCS Mode Controller
The GMC 605H Automatic Flight Control System (AFSC) mode controller is shown in Figure 2-2. The
front panel of the GMC 605H includes a NVIS friendly monochrome display that provides FCS status
indications, autopilot mode annunciations, and other system messages and alerts. The GMC 605H
performs flight director computations for higher level modes and serves as the primary interface to
peripheral LRUs in the aircraft. The GMC 605H provides AFCS commands to the GFS 83 servos. The
mode controller is also the maintenance interface for software updates and configuration of the GFC 600H
via a micro-USB port located on the front panel of the bezel.
Figure 2-2 GMC 605H Mode Controller
The GMC 605H includes an internal attitude sensor package, which is used to provide one of the two
required AHRS inputs to the GFS 83 servos. The mode controller also includes an independent set of rate
gyros that are used as an internal rate monitor within the GMC 605H. The GMC 605H AHRS utilizes the
same aiding sources that are provided to the primary AHRS sensor. The GFC 600H system requires a
minimum of one GPS, air data, and magnetometer interface to the GMC 605H for improved AHRS
performance. The system will continue to operate in the absence of these aiding sources, but the AHRS
performance will be degraded.
