Step 9.

Place the planter with the Front Panel facing down. Take the Short Back

Legs and arrange them so the holes line up with the holes on the Back
Panel, using Figure 5 as a reference. Make sure that the indented holes are
facing out, and that the shelf brackets on the legs are facing inward. Loosely
insert bolts through the holes, and then tighten them into place.

Important:

Double-check to make sure all four shelf brackets on the legs are facing
inward, so you will be able to lay the shelf on them later. If they are not, then
you installed the legs incorrectly, and should fix them before moving on.

Step 10.

Insert four of the Plastic Caps into the bottoms of the four legs. Use

your mallet or hammer to firmly tap them into place. Insert the remaining
two caps into the tops of the Short Back Legs.

Step 11.

Slide the Crossbar between the tops of the two Long Side

Legs. Loosely insert a bolt through the hole on the outside of leg
into the hole in the Crossbar. Repeat with the other side, and then
tighten both bolts into place.

Step 12.

Take the Trellis Netting and lay the edge with five holes over

the Crossbar. Then, take two of the Zip Ties and put one in each
corner hole in the Netting, loop them around the Crossbar and
tighten. Take two more Zip Ties, and put them through the same
corner holes, this time looping them around the Side Legs (Figure
4). Put Zip Ties through the remaining three holes and loop them
around the Crossbar. Go back and tighten all the ties into place and
trim off any extra.

Step 13.

If you have not already done so, tip the planter onto its feet, so it is

now standing upright. Arrange the netting so that it is hanging down the
back of the planter. There are three holes along the bottom edge of the
netting. Place the middle hole at the center of the top edge of the planter.
Place a washer over the hole and use your screw gun to put a screw through
the holes in the washer and the netting (Figure 5). Do the same for the other
two holes, making sure they are near the corners of the planter.

Caution:

There are no pre-drilled holes for this step. Do not try to put the screw
through the metal corners. Make sure the screw is only going into the wood.

Step 14.

Slide the Shelf between the legs and over the four shelf brackets. The

brackets will rotate slightly so the shelf lays flat.

Step 15.

To install the Water Reservoir, lift the top reservoir platform off of the basin and take out the Water Level Indicator and Capillary

Strips that are inside. Notice how the platform has four slots, with teeth, running down the middle length. Insert one end of a
Capillary Strip through one of the slots, and insert the other end through the slot closest to the
first one (Figure 6). Pull on both ends, until the strip is tight across the top. Repeat with the second
Capillary Strip and the remaining slots.

Step 16.

Replace the reservoir platform back on top of the basin, with the ends of the Capillary Strips

inside the reservoir, and press it firmly into place. Take the Water Level Indicator and slide it into the
hole on edge of the platform. Next, carefully place the Water Reservoir into the planter, so that it
rests on the Platform Supports. Your Apex Trellis Planter assembly is now complete!

When adding soil to your planter, start by pouring in a few inches of your pre-moistened planting mix
and press it firmly into the surface of the reservoir platform, before adding the rest of your mix. We
recommend using a light and airy mix, such as our Self-Watering Container Mix. After planting, water
from above to help your plants settle in, and fill the reservoir using the Fill Tube on the Water Level
Indicator. You may need to keep watering from above until your plants are well established. If you
experience extended dry weather, check the water level frequently and keep the reservoir filled.

About Drainage:

This planter has built-in overflow drainage, so when the water reservoir is full, any

excess water will drain out. The draining water can stain surfaces under the Apex Trellis Planter.
