4.3.4 Sub-Function “ Advanced Read ”
Definition
Advanced function helping to achieve further diagnosis in more complex scenarios.
Purpose :
This function allows setting the filter to indicate which status bit to consider when reading faults.
II
The
regular Read Fault function will only display confirmed faults.
Usage :
• Analyze the conditions that could have contributed to triggering the confirmed fault.
• Check if tests are completed following a clear fault (repair) and after performing drive cycles (if
applicable).
• Especially interesting in the presence of intermittent problems.
Principle :
Create a filter to guide and impose verifications on a specific system.
CAUTION
The Advanced Read function should be used only by knowled-
geable people or professional automotive technicians. It is a
complement to assist in the diagnosis of more complex pro-
blems.
II
Access
To access the “Advanced Read” sub-function using the Integrated or PC Interfaces, it is required to
select the “Read Fault” function first (see Menu Tree
).
The user can decide for each status bit, in order, if it must be considered (equal to 1) during the fault
reading. Press the button to select the bit and to ignore it. Once completed, the IIDTool will
proceed with scanning each ECU to see if there are faults stored in memory having at least one active
status bits (1 or “ON”). Consult
for more details on status bits definitions.
Example: If bit 0,
Test Failed
and Bit 2
Pending
are selected, all faults that have at least one of these
bits equal to 1 will appear in the fault list.
