4.3.3 Faults decoding
Fault codes shown by the IIDTool are based in part on the list of DTC Fault codes (Data Trouble Code)
from the ISO 15031 standard specification*. These standardized codes are complemented by Land
Rover’s manufacturer specific codes. The IIDTool decodes fault codes and provides the description.
Here’s the structure:
*
L322-02, L322-06 and L316
, some ECUs do not respect this standard.
Structure of Fault codes provided by the IIDTool
The code consists of four (4) distinct elements sometimes followed by a textual definition referring to
one of the elements (Def):

Code Elements
1
st
Element :
Prefix, displayed only when the Integrated Interface
II
is used, indicating the fault num-
ber and total number of faults in memory of a given ECU.
Note :
A total number of faults higher than 9 is indicated by a +.
2
nd
Element :
Alphanumeric code of 5 characters, standardized DTC (Data Trouble Code).
Definition
The textual definition of the second element is located after the 4th element of the fault code provided
by the IIDTool.
Structure of the 2
nd
element (Example : A xxxx)
1
st
character : Letter indicating the system on which the fault relates to (see table on next page)
2

specific
3
