Supernatant-Out Operation Not Working (SUPER OUT Light Illuminated)
The COBE 2991 advances to the Supernatant-Out operation; however, fluid is expressed from the cell processing bag at an unexpected rate, or not
expressed at all.
Probable Cause Action
Tubing is occluded. 1 Ensure that clamps are correctly positioned to allow fluid
expression.
2 Check the cell processing set for kinks and pinch points.
The SUPER OUT RATE is set incorrectly or set to zero. Verify the SUPER OUT RATE setting.
A CALL stop was programmed (LED program board). Check programming. Press the CONTINUE button.
Circuit breaker CB5 has been tripped. Reset circuit breaker CB5. See “CIRCUIT BREAKERS” on page 3-10. If
the circuit breaker continues to trip, contact a qualified service
representative.
Air in the hydraulic fluid path can cause the flexible diaphragm to
underinflate, resulting in a lower than expected supernatant-out
volume. Verify that the hydraulic system is primed. See “Checking Prime” on
page 6-35.
Internal malfunction. Contact a qualified service representative.
Caution:
Before attempting to reset a circuit breaker, always unplug the
power cord.
Warning:
Only trained technical personnel should open the front and
right panel doors. Only qualified service personnel should open the left and
rear panel doors. A special tool may be required to open the panel doors.
