Press the STOP RESET button.

Open the right panel door of the COBE 2991. Observe the hydraulic fluid
reservoir line for air bubbles returning to the hydraulic fluid reservoir bag
(Figure 6-23), and do one of the following:
• If no bubbles are observed, proceed to “Checking Prime” on page 6-35.
-or-
• If bubbles are observed, wait approximately 30 seconds and repeat steps 3
through 5 until bubbles are no longer observed, and then proceed to
“Checking Prime” on page 6-35.

Alternate Priming Method
Note: If the
priming cushion has
been misplaced or
damaged, contact your
Gambro BCT representative
as soon as possible for a
replacement.
This priming method should only be used if the COBE 2991 must be primed but
the priming cushion and disk are not available. Without the priming cushion and
disk, there is no way to verify if the COBE 2991 is primed. Contact your Gambro
BCT representative as soon as possible to order a replacement priming cushion.

Set the operator control panel and the secondary control panel to the
following settings:
• CENTRIFUGE SPEED = 0 rpm
• SUPER OUT RATE = 450 mL/min
• SUPER OUT VOLUME = 600 mL
• AUTO/MANUAL = AUTO
• PUMP RESTORE RATE = 0 mL/min
Warning:
Only trained
technical
personnel
should open the front and
right panel doors. Only
qualified service personnel
should open the left and
rear panel doors. A special
tool may be required to
open the panel doors.
Air bubble
Caution:
When you are
priming without
the priming cushion, you
must set the CENTRIFUGE
SPEED control to zero. This
prevents possible damage
to the flexible diaphragm.
Note: Before processing, ensure the PUMP RESTORE RATE is returned to
its previous setting. Otherwise, the COBE 2991 will not advance to the next
cycle.
