Replacing the Handset Assembly

Armored Cord—Models 212 and 213

Removal of Old Handset

1. 

 

Using the Model 233 screwdriver, loosen the 8 front panel screws.

2. 

 

Disconnect the wiring from the handset to the printed circuit board assembly (PCBA).  Unscrew the
J-hook on the corner of the board.

3. 

 

Loosen the Allen set screws on the cord bracket.

4. 

 

Remove the lanyard and colored cables from the cord bracket.

Installation of New Handset

5. 

 

Feed the wires and lanyard through the top hole of the cord bracket.

6. 

 

Secure the armor cable flush to the cord bracket with an Allen screw.

7. 

 

Using pliers, bend the lanyard, and feed it into the bottom hole of the cord bracket.  Tighten the
remaining Allen screw.

8. 

 

Connect the wiring to the PCBA, as indicated in Figure 1, paying careful attention to the wire colors.

9. 

 

Connect the J-hook onto the corner of the board.

10. 

 

Using the Model 233 screwdriver, tighten the 8 front panel screws.
