MOVIES
Wlth Just two simple adjustments, either standard 8 mm or Super 8 mm
movies can be conveniently shown with the GAF Movie Projector.
The same take-up ree I is used for both standard 8 mm and Super 8 mm fi I m.
No adaptation ls required.
TO SHOW STANDARD 8 MM MOVIES
Move the film selector switch forward to the STANDARD position as marked
on the projector.
Remove the adapter by first pushing sllghtly to release the spring catch.
then pulllng the adapter off. With
the
adaphn removed, the film supply
spindle wlll take standard 8 mm film r'eels . T.hè projector ls now reariy to
show standard 8 mm movies.
TO SHOW SUPER 8 MOVIES
Move the film selector switch to the rear SUPER 8 position as marked on
the projector.
Push the adapter
all the way
on the supply spindle. lt wil now accept
Super 8 reels (fig. 82).
The same take-up reel is used for both standard 8 mm and Super 8 film.
The projector is now ready to show Super 8 movles.
NOTE: The selector must be ln the prqp�r postt(on, otherwise the self­

AUTOMATIC FILM THREADING
1. Place reel of film on the front supply spindle so that the reel slot
engages the spindle key when fully seated. Film will feed clockwlse off
of the reel with the perforated edae farthest from the body of the
projector ,

Trim end of film with trimmer on propector base as illustrated. Proper
film trirnmlng is essentlai for automatic threading (fig. 83 - B4).

With projector ln OFF position, feed about two inches of trimmed film
into the threadlng slot (fig. B5).
Turn contrai switch to FORWARD position and be sure that the sti Il knob
ls in NORM position.
If the film does not feed lnto projector, check the followinQ:
- film end not trlmmed correctly.
- film selector in wrong position (Standard 8 or super 8).
- film end not far enough lnto film threadlng slot.
- film path houslng not latched in place.
- proJector not ln OFF position (see 4 above).
- still knob not in NORM position.
6. Film will thread automatically through the film path on to t?.ke-L!!J reel.
If film cornes out of take-up adjustment slot too stralght to feed on core
of take-up reel. push take-up adjustment lever up (fig. B6).
If film cornes out of take-up adlustment slot with too much curl and
feeds below core of take-up reel. push take-up adJustment lever down
(fig. 86).
GAF Projectors incorporate a unique film path butter system wh!ch ell­
mlnates sprocket wheels and automatically adjusts film tension. No film
loops to form when threading or lost loops to reform durlna projection.
NOTE: Simpllfied instructions for film threading are prlnted lnside projec­
tor cover for convenlent reference.
FILM PROJECTION
1. Turn projector contrai switch to FORWARD position for normal movie
projection.
2. Readjust focus knob untll plcture image ls ln sharp focus on the screen
(fig. B1).
3. If a frame line or portion of next picture shows on the screen, slowly
turn tramer adjustment knob until plcture ls centered (fig. C1).
4. If film stalls in the projector while operating, pull a few frames of film
through projector by turning the take-u9 reel by hirnd.
CAUTION: Turn off projector immediately ...
1. If fllm should break . •
2. If fi lm fa ils to feed properly.
3. At the end of projection.
