5.5 Parking assist system
(PAS)
5.5.1 Reversing parking aid
(RPA)
The RPA uses the RPA sensors to send and
receive the ultrasonic waves reflected by the
obstacle to measure the distance between the
vehicle and the obstacle.
On and Off
Release the EPB and move the gearshift lever
to “R” position, and then the RPA starts to
operate if the vehicle is reversing at 10km/h
below, and stops operating if the vehicle speed
is higher than 12km/h; move the gearshift lever
out of “R” position and apply the EPB, in this
way, the RPA also stops operating.
Dynamic view
The dynamic view on the display shows
the distance between the front/rear of the
vehicle and the obstacle. As shown in the
figure, the outermost sector of the vehicle is
in yellow, followed by sectors in orange and
red in sequence. According to the distance
signal of the RPA sensor, the corresponding
sector is displayed while other sectors are not
displayed.
Change of dynamic view is synchronized with
that of the distance audible alarm.
Distance audible alarm
The audible alarm changes with reference to
the distance between a detected obstacle and
the rear bumper, and meanwhile, the color
of activated sectors shown on the display
changes accordingly:
