1.  INTRODUCTION 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Alarm Monitoring and Watch Safety System (AMWSS) 

is intended to centralize all bridge and other 

important alarms to one position on the bridge and to monitor watchkeepers activity as well as to ensure 
his well-being. 
 
The system operation is divided in two independent Programmable Logic Computer (PLC) systems, one 
taking care of Alarm Monitoring and the second one to take care of Watch Safety System.    The PLC for 
Watch Safety System is also generating an independent "Off course" monitoring, "Gyro mismatch" and 
"Magnetic compass compare" functions.
