Overview
This section provides a troubleshooting overview.
When system problems occur, it is necessary to gather all available information for
troubleshooting. Following are some of the key ways to gather this information:
l
The LCD panel shows system faults detected during power-on diagnosis, as well
as hardware malfunctions found by the SCF during system operation.
l
On the remote console (RC2000) of the SMC, the show-post-results command can
be entered after the “ok” prompt to obtain the results of the power-on diagnosis.
l
If a problem occurs while the operating system is running, error messages are
displayed on the SMC screen.
This chapter provides information to help isolate hardware problems.

Users should not attempt to repair the main unit. Contact your local office
immediately to have a certified service engineer dispatched to perform the
repair.
In some cases, the certified service engineer requires login to the SMC with
system administrator privilege. If this operation is required, please cooperate
promptly to expedite recovery of the unit. Alternately, a system maintenance
account can be used. For details, see the user's manual supplied with the SMC.
