OPERATING TIPS

Multi-type Air conditioner

In the case of the indoor unit which can be connected to  a

m

ulti-type outdoor unit :

The

m

ulti-type air conditioner allows

m

ultiple indoor units to be operated in

m

ultiple locations. The indoor units

m

ay be

operated si

m

ultaneously, in accordance with their respective output.

Operation can be done in the following different operat-
ing

m

odes.

Cooling

m

ode and dry

m

ode

Cooling

m

ode and fan

m

ode

Dry

m

ode and fan

m

ode

The operating

m

ode (heating

m

ode or cooling (dry)

m

ode) of the outdoor unit will be deter

m

ined by the op-

erating

m

ode of the indoor unit that was operated first.

If the indoor unit was started in fan

m

ode, the operating

m

ode of the outdoor unit will not be deter

m

ined.

For exa

m

ple, if indoor unit (A) was started in fan

m

ode

and then indoor unit (B) was then operated in heating

m

ode, indoor unit (A) would te

m

porarily start opera-

tion in fan

m

ode but when indoor unit (B) started oper-

ating in heating

m

ode, the OPERATION indicator la

m

p

(green) for indoor unit (A) would begin to flash (1 sec-
ond on, 1 second off) and it would go into standby

m

ode.

Indoor unit (B) would continue to operate in heating

m

ode.

During use of the heating

m

ode, the top of the indoor

unit

m

ay beco

m

e war

m

, but this is due to the fact that

coolant is circulated through the indoor unit even when
it is stopped; it is not a

m

alfunction.

Notice

Si

m

ultaneous Use of Multiple Units

When using a

m

ulti-type air conditioner, the

m

ultiple

indoor units can be operated si

m

ultaneously, but when

two or

m

ore indoor units of the sa

m

e group are oper-

ated si

m

ultaneously, the heating and cooling efficiency

will be less than when a single indoor unit is used alone.
Accordingly, when you wish to use

m

ore than one in-

door unit for cooling at the sa

m

e ti

m

e, the use should

be concentrated at night and other ti

m

es when less out-

put is required. In the sa

m

e way, when

m

ultiple units

are used si

m

ultaneously for heating, it is reco

mm

ended

that they be used in conjunction with other auxiliary
space heaters, as required.

Seasonal and outdoor te

m

perature conditions, the struc-

ture of the roo

m

s and the nu

m

ber of persons present

m

ay also result in differences of operating efficiency.

We reco

mm

end that you try various operating patterns

in order to confir

m

the level of heating and cooling out-

put provided by your units, and use the units in the way
that best

m

atches your fa

m

ily’s lifestyle.

If you discover that one or

m

ore units delivers a low

level of cooling or heating during si

m

ultaneous

operation, we reco

mm

end that you stop si

m

ultaneous

operation of the

m

ultiple units.

Operation cannot be done in the following different op-
erating

m

odes.

If the indoor unit is instructed to do an operating

m

ode

that it cannot perfor

m

, the OPERATION indicator la

m

p

(green) on the indoor unit will flash (1 second on, 1 sec-
ond off) and the unit will go into the standby

m

ode.

Heating

m

ode and cooling

m

ode (or dry

m

ode)

Heating

m

ode and fan

m

ode

During use of the heating

m

ode, the outdoor unit will

occasionally co

mm

ence the defrost operation for brief

periods. During the defrosting operation, if the user sets
the indoor unit for heating again, the defrosting

m

ode

will continue, and the heating operation will begin after
co

m

pletion of defrosting, with the result that so

m

e ti

m

e

m

ay be required before war

m

 air is e

m

itted.

AUTO Restart

In Event of Power Interruption

The power supply to the air conditioner is stopped by a
power interruption. The air conditioner will then restart
auto

m

atically in its previous

m

ode when the power is

restored.

If a power interruption occurs during TIMER operation, the
ti

m

er will be reset and the indoor unit will begin (or stop)

operation at the new ti

m

e setting. In the event that this kind

of ti

m

er fault occurs, the TIMER Indicator La

m

p will flash

(see Page 3).

Use of other electrical appliances (electric shaver, etc.) or
nearby use of a wireless radio trans

m

itter

m

ay cause the

air conditioner to

m

alfunction. In this event, te

m

porarily

turn off the circuit breaker, turn it on and then use the
Re

m

ote Controller to resu

m

e operation.
