Functions Restricted by Authentication
This section describes the functions whose operation in the machine can be restricted
by the authentication feature.
The functions controlled by authentication vary depending on how the machine is
used.
There are the following two ways of use:

Local access
z
Remote access
Local Access
Local access refers to using the machine by direct operation of the control panel on
the machine.
The features controlled in local access are as follows:
Copy
Copy operations are restricted.
Scan
Scan operations are restricted.
The printing of documents stored on the machine is restricted.
This applies to Private Charge Print.
Remote Access
Remote access refers to using CentreWare Internet Services to operate the machine.
The features controlled by remote access are as follows.
Print directions from a computer are restricted.
To use the authentication feature, the authentication information including the UserID
and password must be set in the printer driver.
The print data sent directly from a computer can be received in the machine by check-
ing the authentication information set in the printer driver on the computer against the
authentication information registered on the machine.
Print data sent to the machine that fails authentication is deleted.
Important •
Print data whose authentication information is not set can be set either to be printed or can-
celed.

accessing the machine via your Web browser.
