Determine an installation place.
Note the following points to determine an installation place.
Places appropriate for installation
If there is a missing or damaged component, contact your Fuji
Xerox or dealers.
The packing materials and boxes are required when moving the
printer a long distance. Store the packing materials and boxes with-
out disposing them.
Prepare a power cord.
Prepare the cable (option).
The following cable is necessary to use this printer.
• Parallel interface cable (for PC/AT) full-pitch.
When using this printer as a local printer
When directly connecting this printer to the computer, use either a
parallel cable or USB cable.
We recommend to use only the parallel cable supplied by us as an
option. The use of any other cable may cause radio wave interfer-
ence, or abnormal printing.
When using this printer as a network printer
When connecting this printer to the computer via network, a net-
work cable is required. For network cable, prepare a 10Base-T or
100Base-TX twist pair cable.
For 100Base-TX, a category 5 cable is necessary.
For 100Base-TX, a shielded twist pair cable is recommended.
Reserve an installation place.
This printer should be installed on a desk of which height is 630mm
or less. If this printer is installed on a high place, it is hard to
remove jammed sheets of paper and replace the EP cartridge.
Move this printer to the installation place.
When lifting this printer, two persons must stand in the front and rear
of this printer, and securely hold the respective concaves on the lower
left and right by both hands.
For this printer, the rear side is heavier than the front. When car-
rying this printer, take care of the difference between the weights in
the rear and front.
Remove the tapes and protection materials.
On the printer pulled out from the package, the open-close parts
are fixed with a tape.
This printer is attached to protection materials to prevent this
printer from being affected by oscillation and impact during trans-
portation.
Before using this printer, remove all the tapes and protection ma-
terials.
Place the machine on a level and sturdy surface that can withstand
a weight of 21.4 kg (including the printer body, the paper cassette
(A3/250 sheets) and the EP cartridge). If tilted, the machine may
fall over and cause injuries.
The printer has ventilation holes on the sides and rear panels. En-
sure that the printer is installed with a minimum clearance of 200
mm from the vent to the wall. A poorly ventilated machine can cause
excessive internal heat and fire. The accompanying diagram shows
the minimum clearances required for normal operation, consumables
replacement, and maintenance to ensure your printer operates at
peak performance.

SETUP GUIDE
Confirm whether all components are completed
in the package.
- When lifting the machine, get a firm footing and bend your knees
to avoid possible injuries to your back.
- When moving the machine, do not tilt it more than 10°. If tilted
excessively, the machine may fall over and cause injuries.
- Horizontal and stable place
- Well-ventilated place
- Temperature: 10 to 32 °C, Humidity: 15 to 85% (No dew condensation)
When the temperature is 32 °C, set the humidity within 70%; when
the humidity is 85%, set the temperature within 28 °C.
When lifting the machine, the recessed areas in the lower parts on
both sides of the printer should be firmly held with both hands by two
persons - one standing at the front of the machine (on the control
panel side), the other at the back. Never attempt to lift the printer by
holding any place other than the recessed areas. Failure to follow
the instructions could cause your hands to get caught between the
printer and the floor when lowering the printer.
Remove the tape at
three portions.
Remove the tape at
two portions, and pull
out the protection ma-
terials.
Press the release but-
ton on the left (
),
and open the top
cover (
).
Remove the plate-like
protection materials.
With the orange plas-
tic protective material
pinched, press (

wardly to pull out.

Preparing Installation Environment
Electrical outlet
For the power source, use an outlet of which rated voltage is 220-
240V and available for the current of 3.9A or more.
Use one electrical outlet only for this printer.
If the power source is received from the same outlet as of a device re-
quiring high power consumption, e.g., copying machine or air condi-
tioning equipment, or a device generating an electronic noise, the power
voltage reduces, and computer malfunction or data erasure may result.

Places inappropriate for installation
- Place exposed to the direct rays of the sun
- Place near an air cooler or heater
- Place exposed to the direct wind
- Violating place
- Place near a fire
Using ultrasonic humidifier
Using city water or well water in an ultrasonic humidifier releases
water impurities in the air and sticks in the inside of the printer. As
a result, the printing quality reduces. When using an ultrasonic
humidifier, prepare water not including impurities.
- Wet place
- Place affected by magnetic force
- Place where the temperature and
humidity vary extremely
- Dusty place
The power specifications are listed below. The specifications that apply to
your machine depend on your machine configuration. Connect the power
plug only to a properly rated power outlet. Otherwise, it can cause fire or
electric shocks. If in doubt, contact your Xerox Customer Support Center.
Rated voltage: 220-240 V
Rated frequency: 50/60 Hz
Never use multi-plug adaptors to plug multiple power plugs in the same
outlet. Be sure to operate the machine on a sole-use receptacle. Mul-
tiple connectors can cause the outlet to overheat and cause fire.
