1.
Ensure the trailer is correctly attached to the towing
vehicle. To do this make sure the tow hitch correctly
sits onto the tow-ball and locks into place when
the weight of the trailer is introduced by lowering
the retractable jockey wheel. Insert a security pin
through the tow hitch eyelet when attached.
2.
When the tow hitch is correctly attached, fully
retract the jockey wheel, rotate and stow in a
horizontal position and retighten. This ensures
high ground clearance when towing over uneven
surfaces.
3.
Attach the two safety chains with the shackles
provided and screw tight. Ensure the chains are not
dragging on the ground or low enough to cause a
potential hazard.
4.
Attach the trailer lights plug but make sure the plug
and socket are free of any dirt before inserting.
5.
Test all lights including indicators and brake lights.
6.
Ensure the trailer hand brake is disengaged and the
manual trailer brake override is disengaged before
driving away so the trailer brakes will operate when
slowing down via the inertia of the trailer. Only
engage the trailer brake override when reversing
the trailer and ensure it is always disengaged when
towing.
7.
Failure to disengage the handbrake will result in
damage to the trailer for which the hirer is liable.
