FEATURES

OPERATION

This tool has a precision-built electric motor. It
should be connected to a power supply that is
120 volts, AC only (normal household current),
60 Hz. Do not operate this tool on direct current
(DC). A substantial voltage drop will cause a
loss of power and the motor will overheat. If
your tool does not operate when plugged into
an outlet, double-check the power supply.

As the distance from the supply outlet
increases, you must use a heavier gauge
extension cord. Using extension cords with
inadequately sized wire causes a serious
drop in voltage, resulting in loss of power
and possible tool damage.
The smaller the gauge number of the wire,
the greater the capacity of the cord. For
example, a 14-gauge cord can carry a
higher current than a 16-gauge cord.
When using more than one extension cord
to make up the total length, make sure each
cord contains at least the minimum wire size
required.
If you are using one extension cord for more
than one tool, add the nameplate amperes
and use the sum to determine the required
minimum cord size.
If you are using an extension cord outdoors,
make sure it is marked with the suffix
"WA"("W" in Canada) to indicate it is
acceptable for outdoor use.
Make sure the extension cord is properly
wired and in good electrical condition.
Always replace a damaged extension cord
or have it repaired by a qualified electrician
before using it.
Protect the extension cords from sharp
objects, excessive heat, and damp or wet
areas.

Two auxiliary handles come with the tool.
You can install the bail handle or side
handle on either side of the front housing to
facilitate either right-handed or left-handed
operation.

Adjust the speed by turning the thumbwheel
located on the rear of tool. Thumb-wheel
position #1 provides the slowest operating
speed (2,000 RPM) and position #6, the fastest
(6,400 RPM). The speed can be changed while
the motor is running or while it is stopped.

1. Place the tool with backing pad side up.
2. Position the polishing pad on the backing
pad and press the foam pad firmly on the
    pad.
3. Remove the polishing pad by peeling it
    away from the backing pad.

1. Read and follow the directions supplied
    with the product (polishes, waxes,
    cleaners, etc.).
2. Apply a small amount of the product
    directly to the polishing pad.
3. Grasp the polisher firmly with both hands
one hand on auxiliary handle and one
     hand on motor housing.
4. Position the polisher with the polishing
pad against the work surface and start the
polisher. NEVER run or stop the tool when
it is not in contact with the work surface.
5. Move the polisher back and forth in a
    sweeping motion, over-lapping each
previous pass. DO NOT apply additional
pressure. Allow the polisher to work under
    its own weight.
6. Do not mix products (wax, polish, cleaner,
etc.) on the same pad. Label each pad to
    prevent confusion.

Make sure that the switch is in the “OFF”
position, and the power source is the same as
that specified on the tool’s nameplate.

Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic
parts. Most plastics are susceptible to damage
from various types of commercial solvents and
maybe damaged by their use. Use clean cloth
to remove dirt, dust, oil,
grease, etc.

Carbon brushes should be regularly inspected
for wear. To inspect brushes, unscrew the
plastic brush inspection caps located in the
sides of the motor housing. Keep brushes
clean and sliding freely in their guides. If the
brushes are worn down to the line closest to
the spring, they must be replaced.

1. Connect the tool to the power source.
2. Slide the switch button forward to start
the motor. Switch the button to the rear
    to stop the motor.

WARNING

:

TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY FROM
ACCIDENTAL OPERATION: Switch the
power of the tool to off and unplug the
tool from its electrical outlet before
adjusting tool or installing accessories.

WARNING

:

Keep the extension cord clear of the
working area. Position the cord so that it
will not get caught on lumber, tools or
other obstructions while you are working
with a power tool. Failure to do so can
result in serious personal injury.

WARNING

:

Check extension cords before each use.
If damaged replace immediately. Never
use tool with a damaged cord. Touching
the damaged area could cause electrical
shock resulting in serious injury.

WARNING

:

Be sure the tool is unplugged before
inspecting brushes.
