Translating French Words

Misspelling Words
If you enter a misspelled word, a list of
corrections appears. Highlight the word you
want and then press
entrer
to see its
dictionary entry.

Understanding Definitions
Dictionary entries consist of headwords,
parts of speech, and the translation. Other
forms of the word may follow the headword.
Capitalized words indicate the category for
which the word is used. After the translation,
you may see a list of usage examples.

Translating English Words
You can also use the Professeur d'anglais
parlant to translate English words into
French.
1. Press

to change the entry
language from French to English,
if needed.
2. Type a word (e.g., study ).
To erase a letter, press
arr
. T

accents, type the letter (e.g.,

) and
press repeatedly until the accent you
want appears (e.g.,
é ). To type a capital,
hold

and press a letter key. To type
a number, hold

to view the French
translation.

Explanation of Genders
French nouns are different than English
nouns in that they must either be masculine
or feminine. Each definition of a noun
indicates which gender it is with
m or f.
