STEP 3
Chisel The Door & Install Latch Plate
To Install The Latch Plate
Push the latch plate into the door and using the shape as a template, mark around the
rectangular latch using your pencil.
Chisel a shallow groove of 1/8” into the end of the door until the latch plate fits
completely flush against the door.
Insert the latch plate and screw in using the screws provided and a Philips screwdriver.
Make sure to tighten, but do not over-tighten screws.
The bevel should be facing the door jamb.
(Note: If you have selected a 2 ¾” backset – skip to Step 6 to adjust the latch backset
before screwing in latch plate)
