If your FortiGate is not on the same network
as your FortiAP:
a. Connect to the FortiAP via the CLI using the
instructions in the
Connecting to FortiAP CLI
section of the
Deploying Wireless Networks
Guide
.
b. Specify the
IP address
of the controlling
FortiGate:
cfg-a AC_IPADDR_1=0.0.0.0
cfg-c
where 0.0.0.0 is the address of the
FortiGate.
c. Restart the FortiAP by disconnecting &
reconnecting the power. It will attempt to
connect to the configured IP.

1. Connect your FortiAP to a FortiGate with an
Ethernet cable

2. Navigate to
WiFi Controller
>
WiFi Network
>
FortiAP Profiles
& create a profile with the SSIDs
you want to include.
3. Navigate to
WiFi Controller
>
Managed Access
Points
>
Managed FortiAPs
. Select the AP,
authorize it, & assign a profile to the device.
Note:
When deploying the FortiAP through a
FortiGate, there must be a routable path between the
FortiAP and the FortiGate, and ports 5246 and 5247
must be open.
