9.1.Hardware Configuration
9.1.1.System
The Tunnel Display Unit (TDU) communicates with the AQM via a local data bus. The TDU also acts as a
‘gateway’ for diagnostic data from the devices on the local data bus; such data can be accessed by an integral
RS485 serial port in the TDU.

9.1.2. Processor Architecture
Each NO2 sensor has two processors organised as a master/slave pair. In each case, the master processor
handles all communications to and from the device, while the slave processor concentrates on the measurement
of the parameters necessary for the monitoring process. This enables all sensor-processing to be made without
interruption by external communications. Figure 19 shows the system processor architecture.
