3.10.1.
Mapping Controls
The Mapping Control functions are located to the right of the Area Map. See Figure 3-17. These functions
are used to modify the general appearance of the map. They include five direct entry buttons, eleven
overlay buttons, and one data entry.
Two of the direct entry buttons are Clear Track and Touch Pos A/C. The Clear Track direct entry button
will erase the white line (track) that represents the aircraft’s path. The Touch Pos A/C will reposition the
aircraft to a desired location on the map. To utilize this function, select the TOUCH POS A/C button and
then touch the desired location on the map. The aircraft will reposition to the touched location. The Speed
Reset, Speed X 0.5 and Speed X2 are covered in the Active Airport/Repositions paragraph. See Paragraph
3.3. for detailed information.
The overlay buttons are used to display overlays for modifying the Area Map. They are Storm Control,
Map Center, Map Scale, Map Scroll, Parameter Slew, Parameter Change, Range Circles, Station Kill,
Symbol Display, T/O Training FMC Data Retain, Vis Pattern Training FMC Data Retain, and Speed X.
Each of these overlay displays is described in the following paragraphs.
