Push Back
The Push Back overlay is accessed by selecting the PUSH BACK overlay button on the Active
Airport/Repositions page. See Figure 3-9. The Push back overlay is used to simulate pushback. It consists
of eight push-back control buttons which control the direction, distance, and duration of the push back.
The TAIL LEFT direct entry button causes the aircraft to be pushed back and turned the tail to the left,
The TAIL RIGHT direct entry button causes the aircraft to be pushed back and turned the tail to the right,
and the Straight Back direct entry button causes the aircraft to be pushed straight back. The SHORT,
MEDIUM, and LONG direct entry buttons determine the distance at which the push back will take place.
The TURN NOW direct entry button will inform simulation software to turn the aircraft immediately, if
using the TAIL LEFT or TAIL RIGHT button. The STOP NOW direct entry button informs simulation
software to stop the push back immediately. The selected button remains highlighted while the pushback
is in progress.
Deselecting the highlighted push back button cancels movement. Selecting a different pushback directional
button while pushback is in progress also cancels pushback. The pushback can be canceled by selecting
the CANCEL button at the bottom of the overlay. If the park brake is set when pushback is selected,
pushback will not operate.
