Proper Fit
When worn properly, this headset will provide significant hearing protection.
•
The length or vertical fit of the headset ear dome is adjusted by the headstrap. Adjust as
necessary to ensure the headset ear dome completely covers the ear.
•
When the headset is on the user's head, the microphone strap should be tight.
Note: Do not overtighten the microphone strap when the headset is worn. This may
result in the strap breaking.
•
For maximum comfort, wear the headset as far back on the head as possible while ensuring
the ear dome still completely covers the ear and the microphone is in contact with the back
of the head. If discomfort is felt in the jaw bone, you are wearing the headset too far forward.
Operation with portable radio

•
Adjust the volume level of the radio for a comfortable listening level.
•
To transmit, depress the PTT on the interface and speak clearly.

•
Plug the headset into the jack on the LX-30. Plug the interface into any headset module.
•
To set the headset volume, adjust the LX-30 volume control knob to the desired listening
level. If the volume is still too low or high, you can further adjust it using the Firecom
intercom volume control to achieve the preferred listening level.
•
To transmit on the radio, press and hold the red PTT on the LX-30 and speak clearly.
Operation with a Firecom 4100 portable intercom
The UH-15 headset connects to the 4100 portable intercom using the LX-40 interface.
•
Plug the headset into the jack on the LX-40. Plug the LX-40 into the headset jack on the
intercom.
•
To set the headset volume, turn the intercom volume down. Preset the headset volume, using
the control on the LX-40 interface, to the highest setting (fully clockwise). Set the intercom
volume to a level above the normal comfortable listening level, but at a level which does not
cause distortion. Reset the headset volume on the LX-40 for best listening level.
•
The microphone on the UH-15 is always active and requires no PTT for intercom
communication.
•
The red button on the LX-40 operates an alarm.
