Change Engine Oil
•
Your vehicle is equipped with an engine oil change indicator system
.
The “Change En-
gine Oil” message will flash in the instrument cluster display for approximately 10 sec-
onds after a single chime has sounded to indicate the next scheduled oil change inter-
val
.
The engine oil change indicator system is duty cycle based, which means the engine
oil change interval may fluctuate, dependent upon your personal driving style
.
•
Unless reset, this message will continue to display each time you turn the ignition
switch to the MAR/ON/RUN position
.
To turn off the message temporarily, push and
release the
MENU
button
.
To reset the oil change indicator system (after performing
the scheduled maintenance), refer to the following procedure:
1
.
Turn the ignition switch to the MAR position (Do not start the engine)
.
2
.
Fully depress the accelerator pedal slowly, three times within 10 seconds
.
3
.
Turn the ignition switch to the STOP position
.
NOTE:
If the indicator message illuminates when you start the vehicle, the oil change indicator
system did not reset
.
If necessary, repeat this procedure
.
IF YOUR ENGINE OVERHEATS
In any of the following situations, you can reduce the potential for overheating by taking
the appropriate action:
•
On the highways — slow down
.
•
In city traffic — while stopped, shift transmission into NEUTRAL, but do not increase
engine idle speed
.
NOTE:
There are steps that you can take to slow down an overheat condition:
•
If your air conditioner (A/C) is on, turn it off
.
The A/C system adds heat to the engine
cooling system and turning the A/C off can help remove this heat
.
•
You can also turn the Temperature control to maximum heat, the Mode control to
floor and the Fan control to high
.
This allows the heater core to act as a supplement
to the radiator and aids in removing heat from the engine cooling system
.
•
If the temperature reading does not return to normal, turn the engine off immediately
.
•
We recommend that you do not operate the vehicle or engine damage will occur
.
Have the vehicle serviced immediately
