Operation
6.1
Commissioning
Start charging
Before use, the cable must be completely un-
wound from the recess
[1-5]
.
Insert the mains plug of the charger in the sock-
et.
Push the battery pack
[1-2]
into the charging
station
[1-1]

6.2
Meaning of the LEDs
After inserting the charger in the socket, all the
LEDs light up for approx. 1 s (SCA 8 only).
After this, the charge status display
[1-4]
on the
charger initially changes to the yellow LED ("self-
check") and then indicates the operating condition
of the charger:
Yellow LED- steady light
Charger is ready for operation.
Green LED - flashing
Battery pack is charging.
Green LED - steady light - READY
The battery pack is > 80% charged and ready
for use. In the background, the battery pack
will continue to be charged up to 100%.
Red LED - flashing
General fault indicator, e.g. not in full con-
tact, short circuit, faulty battery pack, etc.
Red LED - steady light
Battery temperature is outside the permit-
ted limit values. As soon as the permitted
temperature is reached, the charger auto-
matically switches to charging.
Remaining charge time (SCA 8 only)
In addition, the SCA 8 charger indicates the
maximum remaining charge time on the
LEDs
[1-3]

Insert the battery pack
The charge status display flashes several times.
Maximum remaining charge time is displayed by
the corresponding LED flashing.
6.3
Working instructions
Continuous or several consecutive charging cycles
can cause the charger to heat up. However, this
does not do any harm and does not indicate a tech-
nical fault.
When kept in the charger, battery packs remain ful-
ly charged.
Place battery pack during charging in a well venti-
lated area.
AIRSTREAM (SCA 8 only)
The SCA 8 charger is fitted with a fan and actively
supports cooling of the BP 18 Li-AS battery packs.

Observe the following instructions:
– Keep the connecting contacts on the charger
clean.
– Do not cover the vents [1-6] on the SCA 8 charger.

er source must correspond with the specifica-
tions on the machine's name plate.
In North America, only Festool machines with
the voltage specifications 120 V/60 Hz may be
