1 Scope of application
The Clean Design individual valve (CDSV) from Festo has
been specially designed for the splash range in the food
and packaging industry. Special attention has been given
to:
– Increased resistance to corrosion
– resistance to acid and alkaline cleaning agents
– Protection: IP 65 and IP 67
2 Requirements for product use
Note
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Installation and commissioning to be carried out only
by qualified personnel in accordance with the operating
instructions.
Warning
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
The CDSV with 3/2-way valves can be used in a pressu-
re range of 3 … 10 bar; it is therefore
not
vacuum-com-
patible.
General conditions for the correct and safe use of the
product, which must be observed at all times:
• Observe the specified limit values (e.g. for pressures,
torques, temperatures, etc.).
• Please observe the prevailing environmental conditions.
• Please comply with national and local safety laws and
regulations.
• Pressurize your entire system slowly. There will then be
no uncontrolled movements.
• This product should only be used in its original status
without unauthorised modifications. Only the conver-
sions or modifications described in this product docu-
mentation are permitted.
3 Mounting
Warning
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Contamination of the CDSV through the production
process:
• Seal any unused mounting holes in the manifold
block with the supplied blanking plugs.
Doing this will prevent bacterial contamination from
occurring at open mounting holes.
4 Electrical connection
The wires of the multi-pin cable are assigned as follows:
Wire colour
Allocation
Brown
Coil 14 of the valve
Black
Coil 12 of the valve
(not 5/2-way valve, monostable)
Blue

0 V with positive switching control signal; with negative swit-
ching control signal connect 24 V.
5 Pneumatic connection
Either operate the CDSV:
– with auxiliary pilot air branched from port 1 (use
connector type: QSY-F-6 for this purpose). The opera-
ting pressure of the CDSV is then 3 … 6 bar, or
– with separately supplied and regulated auxiliary pilot
air (3 … 6 bar). The operating pressure is then
–0.9 … 10 bar or 3 … 10 bar for 3/2-way valves.
Warning
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Under certain circumstances, excess pressure can build
up under the valve cover of the CDSV:
• Do not on any account seal the hole for pressure
compensation (port L on the sub-base).
• Discharge the excess pressure separately. Do
not
use a non-return valve in the line.
Operating medium
Note
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Too much residual oil content in the compressed air will
reduce the service life of the valve.
– When using bio-oils (oils that are based on synthetic
ester or native ester, e.g. rapeseed oil methyl ester),
the maximum residual oil content of 0.1 mg/m³
should not be exceeded
(see ISO 8573-1:2010 [7:4:2]).
6 Maintenance and care
Note
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Please note the following:
• Avoid using cleaning agents with a sodium hypochlo-
rite basis.
• Use aluminium-friendly cleaning agents.
• Use the cleaning agent in accordance with the con-
centration and processing temperature specified by
the manufacturer (see the corresponding data
sheet); however, the processing temperature should
not exceed
+50 °C.
• Do not disinfect the CDSV with UV light.
• Do not use any high-pressure cleaning agents.
• Please note that protection classes IP65 and IP67
refer to the surface tension of clear water. Cleaning
agents minimize this surface tension.
• After cleaning, rinse the CDSV with plenty of clean
water to flush away the cleaning agent and to pre-
vent it from drying out. Otherwise this could lead to
an increase in the concentration of the cleaning
agent. This can attack the surface of the CDSV under
certain circumstances.

1.Clean the surface of the sub-base before replacing the
valve.
2.Loosen the mounting screws of the valve
(

in cover picture).
3.Carefully pull the valve from the sub-base.
4.When mounting, check to make sure the bottom of the
valve is flush with the bottom of the valve hood.
5.Insert the new valve carefully into the sub-base. When
doing this make sure the electrical terminal lugs are not
bent.
6.Tighten the mounting screws with 0.8 Nm (–0.1 Nm).
