4. Raise and lower the lever on the tightening ratchet to reel the strap up around the
drum, taking care to keep the strap tight.
5. After reaching a proper strap tension, check the stability of the load, check that the
strap will not come loose and will not slide around on the load.
Handling Precautions
After attaching all necessary straps to hold the load, clear all personnel from the range of the
vehicle and load in case of a fall then test the load by accelerating the vehicle, steering and
braking to verify the stability of the tie downs.
To release the load, proceed as follows:
1. Check that the load is in a stable position and that it has not moved from the starting
position.
2. Grasp the bracket to release the ratchet with your fingers and pull back the lever to
open the tightening mechanism.
