6. Chart Display
6.1. Overview
The SonaSoft™ Chart Display offers chart plotting capabilities with a realtime overlay of all in-water targets.
The display supports Profe and ENC databases from Jeppesen Marine's C-Map.
The Chart Display window provides various chart plotting functionalities, such as showing the position of
the vessel on the chart, zooming in and out on the chart, measuring the distance between two points on
the chart, and showing Lat/Long coordinates of the cursor position. Figure 28, “SonaSoft™ Chart Display”
shows a sample screen shot. The various features and controls are explained in the following subsections.

6.2. Chart Overlay Explained
In-water targets detected by the sonar are display as an overlay on top of the nautical chart. This overlay
capability increases user comprehension significantly as "stray" in-water targets often correspond to a
feature included on the chart. Sometimes such features are not well located on the chart (such as marking
of simply "rocks" or "reef"). The sonar is able to locate the actual positions of these features as indicated
by the overlay.
