Faronics Power Save Requirements Guide
Resource Usage
This section explains the resources used by Faronics Power Save.
Footprint
Faronics Power Save and Faronics Core have the following footprint on the computer where Core
Console is installed:
Communications
Communication between Core Server, Core Console, and the Core Agent is accomplished using the
SOAP protocol. One of the key benefits of SOAP is that it allows for communication between
applications running on different operating systems, with different technologies and
programming languages.
Bandwidth requirements are low since unnecessary network traffic is eliminated. For example, a
Faronics Power Save deployment using the default settings would generate:
•
First day traffic of 2.5 KB between the console and the workstation
•
Subsequent daily traffic of 0.3 KB with the same settings applied
