Cleaning liquids (solvents)
•
Make sure that the materials used in the immersion tank (see the section on
"Technical Data") are resistant to the cleaning liquids (solvents) used.
•
When selecting the cleaning liquid, take into account that health, fire and
explosion hazards are avoided or at least kept as low as possible.
•
Observe the protective measures against health, fire and explosion hazards
required in the safety data sheet of the cleaning liquid (solvent).
•
Depending on the cleaning liquid used, it may be necessary to take measures
such as equipotential bonding or additional extraction.
•
When using cleaning liquids with a flash point < 55°C, extinguishing devices
must be available which can be triggered manually from a safe distance.
•
Areas in which a hazardous, potentially explosive atmosphere can occur must
meet the requirements for potentially explosive areas. Divide potentially
explosive areas into zones. Take necessary protective measures in
accordance with the explosion protection directive. Include the dip tank in this
evaluation.
•
The required measures depend on the type and degree of hazard as well as
on the type of a possible ignition source, this could be e.g.:
o
Equipotential bonding (grounding) of the small parts cleaner
o
Smoking ban
o
Additional ventilation measures
o
Use of solvents with the highest possible flash point
o
Installation of protective walls against grinding sparks
•
In many cases, a combination of several of these or other measures may be
necessary.
•
Provide additional technical ventilation if there is a risk of hazardous solvent
vapours or mists.
•
Wear appropriate protective clothing (protective gloves, protective
goggles, etc.) when handling the cleaning liquid. Follow the instructions
in the safety data sheet for the cleaning liquid.
