Unpacking
Unpack the appliance completely and check that the
contents of the package are complete (see Scope of
Delivery).
Contact your retailer immediately if you notice any
signs of damage caused during transport.
Note!
Keep the packaging for safe keeping and for trans-
portation at a later date (e.g. when moving house,
servicing etc.).
Warning!
Never use a defective device.
Warning!
Check that the mains plug has been dis-
connected before you start to assemble
the appliance. If the plug is left plugged
in, the appliance may be switched on ac-
cidentally and cause an injury.
Setting up the appli-
ance
Warning!
Take care to ensure that the appliance is
stood on an even, stable and dry surface.

• Use only extension cables designed for perfor-
mance.
• Completely unwind the mains cable and plug the
mains plug into a socket.
• Set the browning control knob to the highest set-
ting and push the toasting lever down to turn on
the toaster. Repeat this process four times.

During this process, the appliance may briefly
produce some smoke or smell which is due to
residues on the heating elements left over from
the manufacturing process. This is normal and not
harmful. Make sure that the room is well ventila-
ted.
