I. FOREWORD

These instructions for use are valid for NECKFIX

®

ENDO. The instructions for use serve to inform the

physician, nursing staff and patient/user in order to ensure technically correct handling.

Please read

the instructions for use carefully before using the product for the first time!

II. INTENDED USE

NECKFIX

®

ENDO is a one-piece fixation strap for endotracheal tubes that enables secure fixation in

position. NECKFIX

®

ENDO can be adapted to different neck sizes. The enclosed adhesive hook-and-

loop fastener provides additional fixation.

III. WARNINGS

NECKFIX

®

ENDO are single-patient products and are intended for single use only. They must not be

cleaned or disinfected.
To prevent the endotracheal tube from accidentally becoming detached, the secure hold of NECKFIX

®

ENDO must be checked regularly.

Too tight fixation can cause pressure ulcers at the corners of the mouth or in the mucous membranes

of the mouth or nose.
When putting on NECKFIX

®

ENDO, keep the endotracheal tube fixed in place with one hand to avoid

the risk of accidental extubation or dislocation, due for instance to an urge to cough induced by irritation

of the throat, or to tensile forces.

IV. INSTRUCTIONS

•  Check whether the packaging and the product are in a faultless condition.

•  Fix the endotracheal tube in place with one hand, and if necessary remove the NECKFIX

®

 ENDO

  that is to be replaced.

•  If this has not yet been done, affix the adhesive hook-and-loop fastener to the desired position on the

  endotracheal tube where the NECKFIX

®

ENDO is to be fixed in place ➊.

•  Place the NECKFIX

®

ENDO with the blue side onto the adhesive hook-and-loop fastener on the

endotracheal tube and cross it in such a way that the NECKFIX

®

ENDO is divided up into a long

section and a short section ➋

•  Place the longer end around the patient‘s neck with the white side of the material facing the patient‘s

  skin ➌.

•  Connect the ends by means of the enclosed adhesive strip and check the endotracheal tube with the

 NECKFIX

®

 ENDO for secure hold ➍.

•  If the NECKFIX

®

ENDO is too long, it can be shortened to the desired length by cutting it with a pair

  of scissors ➎.

•  A mouth wedge/oropharyngeal tube can additionally be fixed in place by wrapping the NECKFIX

®

  ENDO around it ➏.
