In the command prompt, type “cd C:\Program Files\Facilis\TerraBlock”

The command prompt path should change to C:\Program Files\Facilis\TerraBlock

Type “SMDrive –c –a” (there must be a space between –c and –a)

Go to Computer Management (Right click “Computer” and choose “Manage”) –
Services and Applications – Services

Find the SMDrive Service, right click and select “Properties”.
22.
Select “Automatic” for the service Startup Type, choose OK.
23.
For FastTracker Server sercie set startup type to Automatic Delayed start.
24.
Restart the Server.
After the restart you are ready to use your expansion storage. The XP16 will show up as a
new drive group in the create volume window.
Adding an NL16 Nearline
An NL16 can be added to any server as Nearline storage that can be shared as a volume via the
Facilis Shared Filesystem or connected to any client as Direct Attached Storage. The RAID set
will come pre-built and configured as ordered. To re-configure the NL16 contact Facilis
support.
The NL16 ships with the enclosure, the hard drives, two SAS cables and a 12G SAS RAID
card. The SAS RAID card can be installed into any available slot. It is recommended to avoid
Slot 1 if possible. Steps to install the NL16 are below.
1.
Confirm all clients are powered down.
2.
Pre-install the drives for the SAS RAID card. Reference the release notes of the
Facilis software version you are running for the recommended driver version or
contact support.
3.
Shut down the server.
4.
Install the SAS RAID card into the server
5.
Using the supplied cables attach both SAS connection on the NL16 to the SAS ports
on the newly installed SAS card in the server.
6.
Install the power cables to the NL16.
7.
Power on the NL16.
8.
Power on the server.
9.
If installed on a HUB server the volume will now show in the volume list on the
admin tab as long as it is properly licensed.
10.
Rename the volume in the list to the desired name and add user permissions as
desired.
