NOTE:

For rack, furniture, or projector mount installation, see the instructions provided

with the kit.

UL Requirements

The following Underwriters Laboratories (UL) requirements pertain to the installation of the
MTP transmitters or receivers in a rack.

1.

Elevated operating ambient

 — If installed in a closed or multi-unit rack assembly,

the operating ambient temperature of the rack environment may be greater than room
ambient temperature. Therefore, install the device in an environment compatible with the
maximum ambient temperature (Tma = +122 ˚F, +50 ˚C) specified by Extron.

2.

Reduced air flow

 — Install the equipment in a rack so that the amount of air flow

required for safe operation of the equipment is not compromised.

3.

Mechanical loading

  — Mount the equipment in the rack so that a hazardous

condition is not achieved due to uneven mechanical loading. To avoid the risk of
tip-over, distribute the weight of the equipment evenly on both sides of the rack. Install
equipment starting at the bottom of the rack, with the heaviest equipment near the base
and lighter equipment near the top.

4.

Circuit overloading

 — Consideration should be given to the connection of the

equipment to the supply circuit and the effect that overloading of the circuits might have
on overcurrent protection and supply wiring. Appropriate consideration of equipment
nameplate ratings should be used when addressing this concern.

5.

Reliable earthing (grounding)

 — Maintain reliable grounding of rack-mounted

equipment. Pay particular attention to supply connections other than direct connections
to the branch circuit (for example, use of power strips).

6.

Secure, stable installation

 — Securely attach a rack-mountable product to the rack

or floor per the installation instructions. If the rack is provided with a stabilizing device,
install the stabilizer before mounting or servicing the unit in the rack.

Tabletop Use (All Except AAP Models)

The non-AAP MTPs come with four self-adhesive rubber feet. Attach one to each of the four
bottom corners. Set the MTP on a horizontal surface.
