4. SETUP
4.1 For continuous use, connect the AC/DC Adaptor/Recharger to a power outlet and to
the “ADAPTOR” socket on the side of the meter.
4.2 For portable operation using the 8.4V NiCad battery use the following procedure.
4.3 Insert the NiCad battery into the meter housing by closing the case and inserting a
coin or flat screwdriver into the slot at the top of the meter. Snap the cover in the
direction of the arrow and then open the cover of the meter. Remove the battery cover
and connect the snap terminals to the battery terminals. Close the battery cover
firmly.
4.4 Charge the battery for 24 to 48 hours before its first use. An overnight charge will
enable continuous use for approximately 45 minutes. A full charge will provide one
hour of continuous use. Turning the meter OFF when not in use will prolong battery
life.
5. MEASURING TEMPERATURE
5.1 Press the red power switch to the ON position.
5.2 Select the “MEASURE” mode on the side panel slide switch
5.3 Select the thermocouple type of your measuring probe via the faceplate “TYPE”
button. An LED will light above the T/C type selected in the display. Each time the
“TYPE” button is pressed the indicator will advance one type.

F via the “C/F” button.
5.5 Insert the thermocouple probe into the sub-miniature female connector on the side
panel. Be sure to check that it is inserted with the proper polarity and make sure the
proper type is selected in the display.
5.6 Read the temperature on the LED display.
6. CALIBRATING THERMOCOUPLE DEVICES
6.1 Press the red power SWITCH TO THE “on” POSITION.
6.2 Select the “CALIBRATE” mode on the side panel slide switch.
6.3 Select the thermocouple type of the device to be calibrated via the faceplate “TYPE”
button. An LED will light above the T/C type selected in the display. Each time the
“TYPE” button is pressed the indicator will advance one type.
