2. Installing and Connecting the XTA-50
2.1
Unpacking and Installing the XTA-50
Subject
The XTA-50 is a bench-top instrument designed for indoor use only, and is not dedicated
to wet locations. It is designed for use either in the horizontal or tilted position.
Before Starting
Procedure
1.
Open the package with care and remove the protective foam.
2.
Pull out the XTA-50 vertically from its packaging.
3.
Set the XTA-50 on a flat stable surface free of excessive vibration and make sure you
can easily reach the rear of the instrument to remove the power supply cord if
necessary.
4.
Allow the flow of air to circulate freely around the XTA-50 and remove any equipment
or paper that could block the air flow. Ventilation holes are located on the bottom
side of the XTA-50.
Do not place anything under or at the rear of the XTA-50, as illustrated in the
following figure.

Place the XTA-50 in the wanted operating position as illustrated in
To tilt the XTA-50 upward, deploy the two retractable legs located below it.

Caution
•
To ensure proper environment conditions:
•
Do not expose the XTA-50 to rain or excessive moisture.
•
Do not install the XTA-50 near flammable gases or fumes.
•
To ensure proper ventilation and cooling, make sure there is sufficient
clearance below, and at the back of the XTA-50 in the place where it will
be installed.
Important
When unpacking, handle the device with care and do not damage the
original shipping container in case the XTA-50 needs to be returned to
EXFO.
