After the vehicle passes all waypoints, stop echosounder data collection - press the
Stop
button in the general
controls of the
Sonobot 2
software (see details in section 4.3).
–
After the Sonobot reaches the last waypoint, the autopilot will drive it back to its initialization point - on-shore.
Therefore, soon after the last waypoint was reached, switch the remote control into Manual mode and steer
the vehicle to the shore manually.
• Recover the vehicle from the water.
• Download measurement data:
–
The path to the log-file is displayed in the general controls section of the
Sonobot 2
software (see details in
section 4.3)
–
Use the
Radmin Viewer
’s File Transfer mode to transfer the file to the field PC (see 4.1).

During the mission: important considerations
• For survey purposes, its best to operate the vehicle at 4 km/h (2.2 kn) to keep the balance between measurement
accuracy and propulsion speed. The Sonobot’s catamaran-type build ensures it can be operated under up to 3 Bft
(3.4 - 5.4 m/s) wind and 0.3 m wave conditions. The system is thus well suitable for missions in most inland water
bodies or sea harbors. Do not operate the vehicle if the wind is stronger than 3 Bft, and the waves are higher than
0.3 m!
• During the mission, avoid areas, covered in debris or vegetation.
• Mind the risk of floating debris clogging the jet thrusters – have a boat of proper size on hand to recover the vehicle
in case of such emergency.

Battery monitoring
Battery voltage is the indicator for recharging. A drop of the battery voltage means that batteries must be recharged.
If for any battery pack the voltage drops to 13 V, the mission must be stopped for recharging!
As a built-in safety measure, the power will be shut off as soon as the voltage drops to 11 V.
Payload and propulsion batteries
During the mission, monitor the payload battery voltage and the propulsion battery
voltage in the
Sonobot 2
software (the
Status
tab). If for any battery pack the voltage is about to reach 13 V, recover the
vehicle from the water and charge the batteries, as described in section 3.3.
WLAN station
There is a corresponding button on the WLAN box.
Press the button to view the current battery voltage. If the voltage is about to reach 13 V, turn the WLAN-station off and
recharge the battery as described in section 3.3.
