FACTORY PRESETS
The
factory presets
available at the time of printing are shown below. In the front panel descriptions of the
factory presets
CA
refers to clean aperture,
PA
refers to production aperture.
SMPTE has recently published a new safe area specification in SMTPE ST 2046-1 based on fixed pixel
matrix displays and are significantly larger than previously specified in RP218, The safe areas specified in
RP218 are a legacy of past practice and are based on the limitations of CRT-based displays. In order to
accommodate both of these specifications, use the
Safe Area
item on the
Setup Menu
to select which
group of factory presets will be used.
The HD9690 uses the same set of factory presets with the same description for all video standards. The
following preset names and descriptions are identical in each mode, however video standard has its own
set of factory presets as the vertical and horizontal positions of the clean and production apertures are
different. See the charts in section A.2 for a complete description of the size of the clean and production
apertures for each video format.
