ic field, pointing toward Magnetic North.
A compass can tell you which direction you’re
traveling – called a “heading”. It can also tell
you in which direction objects or destinations
lie from you – these directions are called
“bearings”. Once you know the “bearings” of
key objects, you can figure out where you are
using a map. You can then use the compass
to determine in which direction to “head” to
get to your destination.
The navigational numbers engraved on the
turning compass bezel ring of your timepiece
are the 360 degrees of a circle: 0/360
degrees represents North; 90 degrees repre-
sents East; 180 degrees represents South
and 270 degrees represents West.
To get your bearings and determine your
heading, turn the compass bezel ring so that
the marking 0/360 aligns with luminous
arrow tip of the compass hand, showing you
which way is North.
