Checking the Connection Between the UPS and the Scanner
The DS850 uses a USB connection to the UPS so that the DS850 can detect when
external power is lost to the UPS.
Follow the steps below to test the UPS:
1.
Disconnect external power from the UPS.
2.
Verify the DS850 screen indicates that external power has been lost. (The two
connectors in the AC Power icon should be disconnected.)
3.
Reconnect external power to the UPS.
4.
Verify that the screen indicates external power has been applied. (The two
connectors in the AC Power icon should be connected.)
Clearing and Initializing the Scanner
You must clear and initialize the DS850 prior to loading the election definition. The clear
and initialize process clears all data from the machine and loads the necessary
encryption keys to load and run the election.
Follow the steps below to clear and initialize the scanner:
1.
Press
Election
to access the Election menu.
Note:
These steps assume that the scanner has been connected to the UPS, the UPS
has been turned on, the scanner has been powered on, and the AC Power icon
indicates that external power is being applied to the UPS.
